Each individual treatment team may consist of medical staff, clinicians, therapists, and experiential therapy practitioners who specialize in treating trauma and mental health disorders, including registered nutritionists, equine therapists, adventure therapists, yoga practitioners, and Reiki practitioners, among others.

A residential treatment center (RTC), sometimes called a rehab, is a live-in healthcare facility providing therapy for depression, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, problem substance use, and other behavioral issues. A residential treatment center at Newport Institute is a loving, caring sanctuary in which you can heal, reset, establish a healthy regimen, and find a new lease on life. Our environments are surrounded by nature, with beautiful hiking trails and peaceful outdoor sanctuaries. Our integrated approach is customized to serve each unique individual.

Residential treatment for young adults requires an adequate period of time to generate sustainable change. The minimum length of residential treatment depends on the type and extent of a person’s individual challenges, but studies show that outcomes are better when an individual stays in residential treatment for more than 6 weeks, with a continuum of care lasting up to a year.

Family members are expected to be involved throughout the treatment process when deemed clinically appropriate by your treatment team. Because mental health concerns affect the entire family system and support network, not just the individual, sustainable healing and recovery include repairing family and other relationships that have been disrupted.

We take great pride in the fact that we have a full-time, in-house team dedicated to supporting you and your loved ones through what can, at times, be a complicated financing process of securing insurance coverage. Newport’s Admissions team is highly experienced in negotiating single case agreements (SCAs) for clients whose insurance company is not in network with us. If we are unable to negotiate an SCA, we do have a private pay option.

The cost of Newport Institute varies depending on the patient’s insurance policy. Each young adult receives an individualized treatment plan covered by Newport Institute tuition, which may include medication management; individual, family, and group therapy; experiential activities; and academic and life skills programming. Our Admissions and Utilization Review teams work with the patient’s or family’s insurance company to cover as much as possible of the Newport Institute cost. We are in-network with most major insurance companies, and we specialize in negotiating Single Case Agreements with out-of-network companies to minimize out-of-pocket expenses.

Newport Institute’s team includes some of the country’s leading experts in clinical, medical, and experiential therapy. Our focus is not only on immediate recovery, but also on achieving sustainable results that rebuild family relationships and lead to success in life. All of Newport Institute’s family therapists are trained in Attachment-Based Family Therapy and recognize how important it is for the family to be involved in the recovery process.

The daily schedule at Newport Institute reflects our integrated approach to treatment, involving a wide range of modalities and experiences. Each young adult’s treatment plan includes individual, family, and group therapy. On any given day, you may participate in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Music Therapy, Equine Therapy, Adventure Therapy, martial arts, yoga and meditation, and many other dynamic activities (depending on location). In addition, the daily schedule provides time for academic and life-skills work, and includes meals eaten family-style with peers and staff. Life in treatment can be challenging, but also incredibly fulfilling, inspiring, and joyful.

Bring about 10 days’ worth of clothing suitable for both indoor and outdoor activities, as well as items needed for experiential therapy including Jeans/slacks Sweats/workout clothing Shorts Weatherproof jacket Robe Tennis shoes, sandals, boots T-shirts and blouses Bathing suits When packing, be mindful of which campus you’re heading to and the general weather conditions there. We have laundry facilities in each of our houses, so you’ll be able to wash your clothes while you’re here.

Comprehensive assessments and examinations are conducted with our physicians and psychiatrists. Newport Institute locations are staffed by experienced nurses. For urgent and emergency medical and psychiatric care needs, we refer residential patients to local resources, such as acute care hospitals or specialty physicians and physicians.

Our psychiatrists assess clients’ mental health status and can provide psychiatric services such as medication management. Psychologists, licensed family therapists, experiential therapists, and social workers are also available for residential locations to provide additional support. Our intake counselors gather mental health backgrounds during the assessment process, and with the permission of the client, discuss their needs with their outside mental healthcare provider. Our programs are proven to achieve positive outcomes in healing mental health and substance abuse disorders. However, we are not a locked psychiatric hospital, and if your client’s condition is too severe to be safely accommodated at Newport Institute, we will place a referral to treatment for your young adult to another provider.

At Newport Institute, we treat young adults who are seeking positive growth and recovery from maladaptive and self-destructive behaviors, including Depression Anxiety Substance Use Disorder Process Addictions Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Trauma and PTSD Dissociative Identity Disorder Personality Disorders Suicidal Thoughts Eating Disorders and Disordered Eating Phobias

Upon admission to one of our residential treatment centers, each young adult is assigned a treatment team that develops a personalized program to ensure positive growth and sustainable healing. The treatment team may consist of: Psychiatrist Individual Therapist Family Therapist Medical Doctor Registered Nurse Registered Dietician/Nutritionist Recovery Counselor Clinical Director, who oversees the Treatment Team
