Alumni Program

At Newport Institute,
support and connection
don’t end when
you leave treatment.

A Road to Continuing Recovery

After treatment, each young adult is connected with an Alumni Lead in their region, and an Alumni Parent Coordinator in their region, who facilitates ongoing opportunities for in-person and online peer connection. We offer separate programming for parents through our Alumni Parent Coordinators.

Young Adult Support

For young adults reintegrating
to daily life after residential or outpatient treatment.

  • Quarterly Gatherings

In-person or virtual get-togethers for each region, celebrating our collective recovery milestones

  • Tailored Support Groups

Themed groups focused on topics ranging from mindfulness practice to LGBTQ+ mental health to navigating the holidays, guided by young adults’ interests

  • Ongoing Check-Ins

Informal meetings to share how it’s going and receive unconditional love and support

Parent Support

Parents of young adults also receive peer support and connection, online and in person.

  • Open Support Groups

Virtual groups in which parents support parents in a compassionate and judgment-free environment

  • Parent Meet-Ups

Regional in-person or online parent gatherings for coffee and conversation

  • Resource Library

Timely articles, videos, book recommendations, and event information, all updated weekly

Staying Connected
to a Powerful
Support System

Our Alumni app keeps young adults connected to each other and to our programming. Here you’ll find event and support group schedules, links to join meetings and webinars, and access to a library of resources.

Maintaining long-term recovery is easier when you can turn to peers who are on the same path. The Newport Alumni team is dedicated to making it as easy as possible for young adults and their parents to find support and renewal whenever they need it.

Questions?

All calls are always confidential.

We understand that the recovery journey doesn’t end when treatment is over. And we believe it’s a journey that none of us has to travel alone.

For many young adults, the real work starts once they return home or to college. In order to achieve sustainable healing, peer support is essential. Research shows that belonging to a community that understands your challenges and validates your wins is one of the most powerful factors in maintaining recovery. Whether you’re struggling or celebrating, there’s nothing like sharing your stories with others who truly get what you’re going through.
