As Newport Institute’s Chief Executive Officer, Joe Procopio has spearheaded the growth of Newport Institute’s services into new markets to reach more young adults and their families in need of vital mental health services. Joe has more than 30 years of professional experience in business development, strategic planning, and process improvement for the healthcare industry.
At Newport, Joe’s main focus is to provide the highest-quality care for clients and to amplify Newport’s mission of empowering minds and restoring families. He accomplishes this by contributing fresh ideas and initiatives, in collaboration with Newport’s leadership team, to keep Newport Institute at the forefront of adolescent mental health treatment.
Experience
Prior to joining Newport, Joe Procopio was with Acadia Healthcare Company and CRC Health Group for 16 years, where he served numerous roles, most recently as a Divisional President. Additionally, previous to his roles at Acadia and CRC Health, Joe held managerial positions at Susquehanna Health and Geisinger Health System, both in Pennsylvania. Joe has a strong background in multidisciplinary leadership across areas of Behavioral Healthcare, Home Care, and traditional hospital settings. He is committed to driving positive results for his team as well as for Newport’s clients and families.
Advice I Would Give My 20-Something Self
A very wise friend once told me ‘now is not forever’. Your early 20’s can feel and be tumultuous, but hope, resilience, and healing are things you can take hold of if you want them. I am humbled to lead such a passionate group of professionals who are dedicated to the healing and recovery of young adults and we stand by our Newport values…we will do whatever it takes.
