Our Mental Health Referral Process: Embarking on the Journey Toward Sustainable Healing

Often, the first step toward sustainable healing is establishing a therapeutic relationship at home. The next step comes when you and your support network recognize the need for an additional level of care. At Newport Institute, we honor our partnership with mental health referral care providers as part of our patient referral program. It’s of paramount importance to us to establish committed therapeutic relationships with primary care physicians, and working hand in hand, develop a comprehensive treatment plan that can help solve complex mental health issues for young adults who may be in need of more extensive care.

Newport Institute’s Mental Health Referral
Process for Mental Health Services

Our team works closely with behavioral health professionals and therapy referrals so that young adults, families, and
loved ones who come to us experience an easy and supported process—whether they’re struggling with depression,
anxiety, eating disorders, trauma, substance abuse, or another mental health diagnosis.

When a Referral is Required

To begin the patient referral program process, reach out to our Admissions Experts at 866-409-0076 (US toll-free) or +1-714-798-9320 (int’l). We conduct an initial conversation to discuss our referral process for mental health services and our approach to treatment. In addition, we can verify insurance benefits and discuss financial arrangement options.

THE FIRST STEP

Pre-Admission Assessment

A pre-admission assessment takes place over the phone with the clinician, prospective resident, or other family member beginning the mental health referral process. Mental health referral care providers are a vital element of our approach to treatment. Because we highly value their insight and understanding, we involve them throughout a client’s intake and treatment.

When a Resident is Admitted

The referent is a key person in the coordination of both treatment planning and discharge planning. Referring healthcare professionals will be notified of a resident’s safe arrival within 24 hours of their admission. The resident will also be asked to sign a release within the first 24 hours so information can be shared with their outside treatment healthcare professional.

Newport Institute’s
Continuum of Care

The right environment is key. Newport Institute offers comfort and natural beauty to cultivate transformation and healing from mental health issues and co-occurring disorders. Upon admission to our residential treatment center, each resident is assigned a Treatment Team that works collaboratively to develop a personalized program for positive growth and long-term healing. The Newport Institute Treatment Team consists of:

  • Medical Doctors including Psychiatrists
  • Individual Therapist
  • Family Therapist
  • Registered Nurse
  • Recovery Counselor
  • Registered Dietician/Nutritionist
  • Experiential Therapy Counselors
  • Clinical Director

Newport Institute Treatment Teams meet daily to review and discuss treatment plans and individuals’ progress. The team shares research and results to optimize each young adult’s therapeutic growth track as they recover from depression, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse, and/or eating disorders, and begin to look ahead to a bright future.

1-to-1
Relationships

Newport Institute is an integrated care provider committed to treating every client as an individual with unique needs. We speak one-on-one with professionals about specific program details so they can better understand our tailored approach.

Professional Priority

Because the mental health referral care provider has created a therapeutic relationship with the young person getting a referral to treatment, we make sure to include the referring healthcare professional in the admissions process from the very first call.

Specialized Care

We want to ensure that every client knows what to expect as they prepare to set out on their healing journey. The referring physician or healthcare professional can set up a call with our Admissions team, or the individual being referred may speak to one of our clinical outreach professionals.

Ongoing Updates

A release of information is signed when a client enters Newport Institute, so we can provide daily updates to the referring healthcare professional during the application process. During treatment, the referring professional will receive weekly updates, by either phone or email, as part of our therapy referral program.

Community Resources

We offer options for community resources for the family members and loved ones of the individual referred to Newport Institute. This way, the family can better navigate the process of supporting a resident during and after treatment.
